The chase

There we are - one behind the other
Each with the same thing to fear
Thinking about the future to prepare,
Our past to repair,
Ignoring the present in despair.

We all take part in the chase,
The chase for something better,
Something worth the pace,
Something to make our dreams bigger.

Every moment it 'more this,' 'better that',
Our goals in need of a new format,
The quest for a purposeful life,
Our dreams and actions in strife.

We are caught up in this vicious circle

Don't see a way out, and don't search for one
For we can not make it happen
With a chain around our ankle.

The chain that we forge
Right from our childhood
There's family, friends and the whole neighborhood
Stop once and think, can we not reforge?

Can we not renew the bond with our dreams,
Live a life of contentment,
Listen to our hearts,
And take time to look as the Sun beams.
